Tropical Plant "Wooly abiu"

Characteristics - The wooly abiu is not a cultivated fruit tree and is frequent in its natural habitat, the savannas (cerrados), grasslands are barren land throughout the country. It is a deciduous tree, lactiferous, 6-18 m tall with twisted, ferruginous-pubescent branches. Leaves are crowded at the apices of the limbs, rigid-coreaceous, glabrous or sparsely pilose on the upper surface, with dense, grey pubescence on the inferior surface, 7-15 cm long. Flowers are greenish, arranged in fascicles on bare branches (leaves have already fallen), they form from August to October. Fruits globose or ovoid, with a ferruginous-pubescent surface, a gelatinous pulp, slightly sweet in flavor. They mature in January – February.
Uses - The fruits are consumed in natura and not widely appreciated.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
