Tropical Plant "Cambuca"

Characteristics - The cambuca is a fruit tree, cultivated in domestic orchards of the southern and southeastern part of the country, it is not very frequent in nature in its natural habitat, the alluvial plains of the Atlantic Forest from Rio de Janeiro to Santa Catarina. It is an evergreen tree, 5-10 m tall, with a dense crown, pyramidal in shape with a short trunk, covered in smooth bark, reddish and peeling. Leaves are subcoriaceous, glabrous on the upper surface, bicolored, from 12-17cm long. Flowers, solitary or in glomerules on the caulis and branches, form from October to December. Fruits are berries, flattened-globose and somewhat costate, glabrous with a carnose-succuluent pulp, a delicious sweet-acidic flavor and 1-2 large seeds. They ripen in December and January.
Uses - The fruits are consumed in their natural state or in syrup and are greatly appreciated.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
