Tropical Plant "Brazil sorva"

Characteristics – The Brazil sorva is a fruit tree of the Amazon region, seldom cultivated but found frequently in the forests and open fields of its natural habitat. It is a lactiferous, evergreen tree (a shrub in open fields) 5-20 m tall. Leaves are sub-coreaceous, 5-10 cm long. Infloresences axillary corymbose have pink or purple flowers. Their development may vary each year, but occurs mainly in May and June. Fruits are berries with a mucilaginous, sweet-flavored pulp, ripening from September to November.
Uses – The fruits are very popular, they are eaten in their natural state. Flavor resembles mangaba, with reminiscence of sapodilla. They are highly commercialized in the open markets of towns in the central Amazon region.
Propagation – Propagated by seeds which are easily germinated.
