Tropical Plant "Rangpur lime"
Citrus limonia
Characteristics - The rangpur lime is an exotic fruit bearer, possible, native to India and widely cultivated in both domestic and commercial orchards, throughout most of Brazil, both for fruit production and as a root stock, for other citruses,being one of the most commonly used for this purpose (70%). It is an evergreen tree, spinescent, 3-6 m tall. Leaves chartaceous, glabrous and lustrous, aromatic, 6-14 cm long, with a narrow, alate petiole. Flowers fragrant, white, the buds are purple, solitary or in groups of 2-5, axillary; they form from August to October. Fruits are round, with a small mammila on the apex, aromatic, with a rugose skin, punctate( with glandular dots), thin and loose, the pulp is separated into 8-10 segments, soft, very acidic, with many seeds; they mature from March to August.
Uses - The fruits are only consumed in natura, in the form of juices and as a condiment.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
