Flowers solitary or in groups, very aromatic, unisexual (only 5-12% are male); they form in August-September. Fruits thick-skinned and bitter, with a succulent and very acidic pulp, with many seeds; they mature in the fall and winter.

Uses - The fruits are consumed in natura in the form of juices and used as a condiment; the skin is used in the culinary field to make sweets and jellies.
