Tropical Plant "Apple"

Characteristics - The apple tree is a fruit bearer, originally from Asia Minor, widely cultivated in southern Brazil, where it was introduced in 1926; it is a complex hybrid involving various species, including Malus sieversii, M. orientalis and M. sylvestris whose domestication began thousands of years ago, today it is the most popular of fruits. It is a small deciduous tree, 3-5 m tall. Leaves chartaceous, sparsely pubescent, 6-12 cm long. Flowers androgynous, however, they are auto incompatible (need cross pollination to fruit) arranged in umbels, forming August to October. Fruits variable, with an acidic, sweet pulp.
Uses- The fruits are consumed mainly in natura and greatly appreciated.
Propagation - by seeds and grafting.
