Tropical Plant "Peanut butter fruit"

Characteristics - The peanut butter fruit tree is an exotic cultivated for many years in Brazil, however, only in domestic orchards; it originated in various Andean countries, at altitudes from 1500-2400 m. It is a small evergreen tree, 2-5 m tall. Leaves simple, chartaceous, pubescent when new, 10-17 cm long. Flowers are androgynous and lightly perfumed, forming mainly in the spring, arranged in axillary racemes up to 10 cm long. Fruits are drupes that ripen during the summer; they have a thin, carnose endocarp (pulp) with a slightly, sweet flavor, containing a single seed, that makes up more than 90% of the fruit's volume.
Uses - The fruits are consumed in natura and made into sweets, but are not greatly appreciated.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
