Tropical Plant "Cutite"
Pouteria macrophylla



Characteristics - Pouteria macrophylla is cultivated in domestic orchards, mainly in the northern region of the country, it is relatively frequent in its natural habitat, in the Amazon region, in dry land rainforest, where it transitions to the grasslands and savannas. It is a semi-deciduous tree, lactiferous, 10-25 m tall. Leaves chartaceous, concentrated on the extremities of branches, quasi-glaborous on the upper surface and puberulous on the inferior surface, 7-21 cm long. Inflorescences in axillary fascicles and on thin leafless branches with 4-10 flowers, form from June - August. Fruits globose,a starchy, slightly sweet pulp, 1-2 seeds. Ripen from October-January.

Uses - The fruits are consumed only in their natural state and are greatly appreciated.

Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
