Tropical Plant "Guabiroba-verde"
Campomanesia sessiliflora

Characteristics - Campomanesia sessiliflora is a rarely cultivated fruit tree and is not frequent in its natural habitat, the savannas (cerrados) and fields of central Brazil, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul. It is a shrub or small tree, semi-deciduous, depending on the variety. It differs from the others in that it has densely-pubescent peduncles, 1-12 mm, that are shorter than the flower buds, the calyx is open at the bud stage and the leaves have 4-7 pairs of lateral nerves. Flowers are solitary, forming in October-November. Fruits have a succulent, firm, sweet pulp and mature in December-January.

Uses - Fruits are consumed in their natural state and arc greatly appreciated locally.

Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
