Campomanesia pubescens
Characteristics - Campomanesia pubescens is not a cultivated fruit bearer and it is frequent in its natural habitat, the savannas (cerrados) of the southeast and west-central regions of Brazil. It is a deciduous shrub, 1-2 m tall. It differs from other Campomanesia in that, it has densely pubescent peduncles that are normally much longer than the flower bud and immature leaves are still present when flowering occurs. Leaves are coriaceous when mature with a pubescent inferior surface .Flowers are solitary, forming in August-September. Fruits have a succulent, acidic flavored pulp and mature in November-December.
Uses - The fruits are exclusively consumed in their natural state.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
