Campomanesia neriiflora
Characteristics - Campomanesia neriiflora is a native fruit tree, occasionally cultivated as an ornamental and is seldom found in its natural habitat, the Atlantic Rainforest, on the slopes of the coastal range, as well as the coastal plain in the states of Sao Paulo and Parana. It is a small tree, semi-deciduous, 3-8 m tall, with the new branches glabrous or spasely pubescent. Leaves are submembranaceous with nerves impressed and shiny on the upper surface . Flowers are solitary, large, axillary and form from September to November. The peduncle is 2-6 cm long. Fruits subglobose with a rugose surface. They ripen in December - January and have a succulent, acidic pulp with a few soft seeds.
Uses - The fruits are consumed in their natural state but are not widely appreciated.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
