Campomanesia aurea
Characteristics - Campomanesia aurea is a native fruit bearer, not under cultivation, however it is frequent in nature in its natural habitat, the fields and scrublands of the Southern Plateau. It is a deciduous shrub, less than 0.5 m tall. Leaves subcorcaceous, glabrous, overlapping subsessile or with a 2 cm petiole, 1.5-3.0 cm long. Flowers are solitary, androgynous, axillary or up to the base of the branches. They form from October to January. Fruits ripen from December to February. They are globose or oblong berries, green or yellow, with a succulent, very pleasant, acidic-sweet flavor and a few soft seeds.
Uses - The fruits are consumed exclusively in their natural state and greatly appreciated by the local population.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
