Characteristics - The noni is a tropical fruit bearer, native to India, Malaya and the tropical regions of Australia. It is a shrub or small evergreen tree, 2-6 m tall. Leaves simple, coriaceous, glabrous, dark green and lustrous on the upper surface, 15-30 cm long, stipules, round and deciduous, up to 1.5 cm, when they fall off they leave ring-shaped scars. Flowers androgynous, arranged on axillary capitulums, solitary or in groups of 2-3, form throughout the year. It is a multiple fruit (syncarp), carnose, with a strong, cheeselike odor and an acidic flavor, not too pleasant; they mature in the summer.
Uses - The fruits are consumed in natura, in the form of juice, usually mixed with other fruits to improve the flavor, they are thought to have great medicinal value.
Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
