Characteristics - The kumquat marumi is a fruit bearer, originally from China, cultivated in both domestic and commercial orchards, in Brazil. It is a large shrub or small tree, evergreen, a slow grower, 2.5-4.5 m tall, with a dense crown, with or without spines. Leaves coriaceous, glabrous, dark green, lustrous, a lighter color on the inferior surface, 3-8 cm long. Flowers fragrant, white, arranged solitary or in groups of 2-4, axillary, form from October to December. Fruits globose or oblong ovate, with thick, orange-yellow skin with large glandular dots, with a somewhat sweet flavor, the pulp is slightly succulent with an acidic flavor, usually containing one seed per segment, they mature in the autumn.

Uses - The fruits are consumed fresh and whole ( both skin and pulp, only eliminating the seeds), or as jellies.

Propagation - Propagated by seeds.
